Hi, I’m the founder of Peachtree Dentistry. My path to becoming a dentist wasn’t exactly traditional. I started out in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and spent four years working as an engineer in the nuclear industry. But over time, I realized that my true passion was in healthcare, which led me to make the switch to dentistry. I went on to earn my dental degree from VCU, and later, I completed a residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
During my time at MUSC, I worked with a variety of cases—from full mouth rehabilitation to cosmetic dentistry—and I developed a strong interest in digital dentistry, including CAD/CAM technology. I love how these modern advancements allow me to be more precise and efficient, which ultimately helps my patients achieve better results more quickly. I’m all about combining the latest innovations with a personalized, evidence-based approach to make sure each patient receives the best care possible.
As the founder of Peachtree Dentistry, I’ve created a practice where technology and compassionate care go hand in hand. It’s important to me that every patient feels listened to and understood. When I'm not working, I’m giving back by volunteering at the St. James Free Clinic in Ashland, VA, or participating in dental mission trips, like the Jamaica Project, Dental Access Day in South Carolina, and the Dental Christian Fellowship Mission in Ecuador.
I think my engineering background has really shaped how I approach dentistry. I’m detail-oriented and always looking for ways to improve, whether that’s through the use of digital advancements or simply by being present and attentive to my patients’ needs. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Milo, traveling, and making memories with my big family—especially with my two nieces and three nephews.
I was born in South Korea and moved to the United States with my family in 2004, where we settled in Northern Virginia. I attended the University of Virginia (UVA) for my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, and then went on to the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry to earn my DDS. Afterward, I completed a residency at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
I first became interested in dentistry as a child in Korea. Interestingly, my experience in the dental chair wasn’t a positive one — in fact, it was quite traumatizing. But rather than deterring me, it motivated me to pursue a career in dentistry. I wanted to change people's perception of dental care and make sure my patients always feel well-cared-for and comfortable during their visits. Even though I still don’t particularly enjoy being on the receiving end of dental treatment, I take great satisfaction in helping calm anxious patients and providing them with the care they need. It brings me so much joy to see patients leave with a smile and even return to see me again — especially those who’ve had negative experiences in the past and are now willing to trust dentistry again.
I would describe myself as introverted, though I’m still quite social when the situation calls for it. I recharge best when I have time alone. Outside of work, I enjoy hobbies like board games, video games, escape rooms, and movies. A fun fact about me is that my given name, "Dado," means "the art of drinking tea" in Korean — a little piece of my heritage that I think is pretty neat!
